This self portrait was created at a painting workshop led by Amanda Sage, and supported by Emily Kell and JoeBob Merritt. We learned about the Mish-technique, and how to glaze. The concept for this piece was being birthed or sprouted from a sunflower seed. As I come forth through the seed, cracking the shell and being born - I am growing, learning, and coming into my own. This workshop was one that truly changed my artwork, and me along with it. I began taking myself more seriously, and learned that I was capable of so much more.
