This self portrait was created at a workshop led by Amanda Sage, and supported by JoeBob Merritt and Emily Kell. We learned about the Mish-technique, and how to glaze. The concept for this piece was being birthed or sprouted from a sunflower seed. As I come forth through the seed, cracking the shell and being born - I am growing, I am learning, coming into my own. This workshop was one that truly changed my artwork, and me along with it. I began taking myself more seriously, and learned I was capable of so much more.
